Speaker Spotlight

 

Peter W. May

Peter May has been President and a Founding Partner of Trian since November 2005. Mr. May serves as the non-executive Vice Chairman of The Wendy’s Company. From May 2008 through May 2017, Mr. May served as a director of Tiffany & Co. From April 1993 through June 2007, Mr. May served as President, Chief Operating Officer and a director of Triarc Companies, Inc., which during that period of time owned Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. and the Snapple Beverage Group, as well as other consumer and industrial businesses. Mr. May was President and Chief Operating Officer and a director of Triangle Industries, Inc. from 1983 until December 1988, the largest packaging company in the world and a Fortune 100 industrial company, when that company was acquired by Pechiney, S.A., a leading international metals and packaging company. Mr. May is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Mount Sinai Health System in New York, where he led the turnaround of this major academic health center from serious financial difficulties to what is today one of the most profitable and fastest growing academic medical centers in the United States. In addition, Mr. May is a Trustee of The University of Chicago and a Life Member of the Advisory Council of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mr. May is also the Vice Chairman of the New York Philharmonic, a Director of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, a Trustee of the New-York Historical Society and a partner of the Partnership for New York City, as well as the past Chairman of the UJA Federation’s “Operation Exodus” campaign and an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of The 92nd Street Y. He is Chairman of the Board of The Leni and Peter May Family Foundation. Mr. May received A.B. and M.B.A. degrees from The University of Chicago and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Mr. May also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine of New York University.

Ted Dysart

Program Facilitator Theodore L. Dysart is a Vice Chairman with Heidrick & Struggles where he is a leader in the Global Board of Directors Practice and an active member of the CEO search practice. Ted is responsible for senior-level executive search assignments and is a functional specialist at Heidrick & Struggles, working exclusively on board, CEO and succession planning engagements. He has placed more than 600 executives on the boards of Fortune 500, mid-cap and private companies. BusinessWeek ranked him as one of the 150 most influential head hunters in the world and Executive Search Review named him one of six “executive recruiters to watch”. Over the last several years, he has been named ten times to the Directorship 100, a listing of the most influential individuals in corporate governance by Directorship magazine. In 2011, he was named to the list of “Rising Stars of Corporate Governance” by the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at Yale University. Serving as a board- and CEO-level advisor, Ted helps clients to identify and attract the proper mix of leadership required for building and managing effective businesses. His consultative-driven approach focuses on working with boards to look at long-term development plans for both management and board succession planning. A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Ted was a member of the first class to receive a bachelor’s degree in management information systems. He is active in civic circles and serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Club, Economic Club of Chicago, The American Red Cross of Chicago and Northern Illinois and CECP, The Force for Corporate Good.
