Overview

As much as any other industry today, health care is in a disruptive state of change. Consumers are demanding a greater role in decision-making. Care providers are grappling with the shift from fee-for-service to value-based payments. Health plan sponsors struggle to keep health care affordable. All these elements are evolving against a background of public health care policy in flux.  At the same time, corporate governance is evolving as well, with expectations of shareholders and demands on directors expanding and increasing. UnitedHealth Group CEO, Steve Hemsley, offers his insights on how management and boards of directors can successfully work together to navigate through an environment of disruptive change.
